It’s been so hectic over the summer that we’ve barely had
time to introduce you to our new General Manager, Sally Hughes.
Sally’s own introduction to the hotel was a bit of a baptism by fire – literally – as she arrived the week we were playing host to the Olympic flame and its 200-strong entourage, but what better time to join us than the week we made a bit of history?!
Sally has worked for Rezidor for 11 years, having started her career at the Radisson Blu in her home city of Leeds. From her first job as office manager, she went on to work in a number of different roles before promotion to General Manager took her to the Park Inn Dublin in 2006.
London then beckoned, with a GM role at the Park Inn in Russell Square, before a move to Wales to run the Radisson Blu in Cardiff prior to joining us.
Sally happily admits her beloved Yorkshire tea was with her during all her travels, acting as a comforting reminder of home, and her pleasure in returning to God’s Own Country is visible.
“I’m delighted to return “home” to Yorkshire,” explains Sally. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experience of living and working in other cities, but I’m very happy to be back home amongst friends and family.
“Having lived in Leeds, I’m very familiar with York, and have frequently visited for shopping trips, and to visit its many attractions. But I’ve never worked here, and I’m really enjoying it. York has so much to offer, and it’s great to be a part of the city.”
Sally believes there’s no place better than Yorkshire for offering the warmest hospitality, and considers this a big feature of a stay here at the Park Inn York.
“Yorkshire’s famous for its welcome. We’re the warmest, friendliest people and I very much want to continue the tradition of offering some great hospitality to everyone who visits us here.
“I believe in the general manager being very visible in the hotel, and I like to meet guests and chat to them about their stay whenever I can.
“Carlson Rezidor is based on the Yes I Can service philosophy, and I want to ensure that this attitude is integrated into every part of our business, and delivered to guests at every point of contact.
“This warmth and generosity of service is what helps us stand out in a very competitive marketplace, and ensures guests want to come back to us again and again.
“We have lots of exciting changes coming to the Park Inn York, including a fantastic new look for many areas of the hotel, and I’m really looking forward to being part of all that.
“York’s a fantastic place to stay, whether you’re here on business or for leisure, and we are ideally placed for both.”
